In connection with the fall Beryllium Health and Safety Committee (BH&SC) meeting, a twoday symposium on Sampling and Analysis of Beryllium Particulates is planned. This symposium will be held November 8-9, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The format includes oral technical presentations, vendor displays, panel discussions, and a poster session. The first day will be devoted to sampling issues (both air and wipe), and the second day will be devoted to both laboratory and portable instrumentation and related equipment. Presentations on broad subjects such as needs/options for sampling devices and the current state of the analytical art, as well as more focused presentations on individual samplers or lab/portable instruments are requested.

Students: There is a limited number of student registrations ($25) available. To be eligible, the student must submit a statement that affirms that they are full-time, lists their major, and describe how the symposium will benefit them. (Deadline is October 24 to apply for the student fee.)
CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations received before November 1 will be charged a $30 cancellation fee; no refunds will be issued after November 1.

EXPOSITION
Commercial exhibits will be displayed on both November 8 and 9. The content of the exhibits will include analytical instrumentation, contract services, and safety/industrial
hygiene monitoring equipment. Vendor registration is as follows:

Morning and afternoon breaks as well as lunch will be provided on both days. In addition, an evening reception will be held on Tuesday, November 8 immediately from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

The symposium will be awarded Continuing Education Units (CEUs), the national standard of recognition for non-university professional education. ABIH certification maintenance points have been awarded as follows: .5 point per .5 day, 2.0 total Industrial Hygiene CM Points.
LOCATION
The symposium will be held at the Marriott University Park Hotel, a deluxe hotel, located 7 miles from the Salt Lake City International Airport and 3 miles from downtown Salt Lake City. With spectacular views of Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Mountains, the hotel is also located near Hogle Zoo, historic Fort Douglas, tennis courts, and Red Butte Garden.

TRANSPORTATION
Traveling to Salt Lake is simple and convenient. Salt Lake is known as the “Crossroads of the West” due to its easy access by road, rail, and air. Interstates 15 & 80, and US Highway 89 go through Salt Lake . Amtrak provides a link to east and west by rail. By air, half the U.S. population is within 2-1/2 hours. Salt Lake City International Airport is closer to the city it serves than nearly any other airport.
